A Springfield Tradition: Athletics Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame was originally conceived in 1991 when current SAEF Director and then SHS Athletic Director, Skip Werley, formed a committee of 15  members. Selection criteria and by-laws were adopted, and nominations were accepted. The first members of the SHS Athletic Hall of Fame were inducted in the fall of 1992 under three categories:  athletes, coaches and contributors.  There were 23 original members.  In 2001, the Hall celebrated its 10th anniversary. 

The selection committee is currently seeking nominations.  Anyone wishing to place a name before the selection committee may do so.  Nominations are accepted at any time and will be reviewed at regularly scheduled meetings of the committee. The selection committee will carefully research and document each candidate's biography and service history before rendering a decision. SAEF's Inititiatives

The Foundation has played a significant role in bringing lights to the Varsity Stadium. SAEF has also supported other improvements to the staduium complex.
